Course Description

STEEL Structures have revolutionized modern construction due to their strength, durability, and design flexibility. From industrial warehouses to high-rise buildings, they provide efficient load-bearing capabilities while ensuring seismic and wind resistance. However, connection design, load calculations, and optimization techniques play a critical role in ensuring stability and performance.  A well-designed steel structure not only enhances safety but also reduces material wastage and overall project costs. With advancements in engineering software and analysis methods, modern steel design allows for greater efficiency, precision, and adaptability in complex architectural projects.

Similarly, Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB) have become increasingly popular for their cost-effectiveness, speed of construction, and material efficiency. Unlike conventional steel structures, PEB systems use factory-made, pre-designed components that reduce waste and accelerate the building process. These structures are widely used in warehouses, factories, commercial complexes, and large-span buildings. Recognizing the demand for specialized knowledge in both conventional steel structures and PEB systems, we have designed this 15-days intensive training program to equip engineers with advanced skills in structural modeling, load calculations, connection detailing, and foundation engineering.

  •  Seismic & Load Considerations: Dead, Live, EQ (NBC 105:2020) + Braced Frame Structures
  •  Optimization of Steel Structure Designs: Weight reduction, cost minimization & load distribution techniques
  •  PEB Type Buildings: Introduction, comparison with conventional steel structures, cost & efficiency
  •  PEB Structural Design: Non-prismatic, tapered steel sections, cold-formed Z & C purlins
  •  Fundamentals of Connection Design: Moment, Shear, Beam-Girder, Beam-Column, Column Base connections
  •  Connection Design using IDEA StatiCa: Load import from ETABS, modeling & design of multiple connection types
  •  Foundation Design: Mat, Combined, Strap & Isolated footing using SAFE
  •  Final Review & Report Preparation: Structural drawings, documentation & Q/A session
